70 MHz SSB radiocontacts

Yesterday I had the opportunity to work two Italian stations on 70.200 MHz, the international DX calling frequency of the 4 meter band. I could establish two short contacts with Enrico, IK0BZY and Pino, IK0SMG, both located in the vicinity of Rome (JO61, about 1250 km from my QTH Zoetermeer).

Earlier this year on 12 June 2013 lots of sporadic E-layer clouds allowed me to make 4m links with following stations:

IS0GRB, ES2JL, ES4EQ, OH1UM, EA1YV, CT1DIZ and ES1CW.

In 2012 I built a 70 to 28 MHz transverter which I use in combination with a Yaesu FT450.
The antenna is an indoor inverted V. The PA with BLY89A delivers about 12 Watts RF.
